Stila M. Gleason, 93, Orofino Native
     
Born April 2, 1909 at Orofino to John P. and Emma C. Stiles Harlan. Stila passed away peacefully at Clearwater Valley Hospital May 7, 2002. She was 93.
     
Stila married Charles H. Gleason June 18, 1931 at Asotin, Wash. She worked as an elementary schol teacher from 1929 tp 1972, teaching at Grangemont School, the Banner school and Orofino Elementary School.
     
She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma as well as the Retired Teacher's Association, both at Orofino. Although she retired from teaching in 1972, she continued a lifelong love for learning and remianed a teacher and mentor to all of her family and friends.
     
Survivors include her three daughters, Harla Matson and Carolyn Mattson and husband Jerry of Orofino and Elaine Rinehart of Denver, Colo.: son (in law) Ken Rinehart, Orofino. 11 grandchildren, Kurt Matson and wife Connie, Lewiston, Connie Deyo, Scott Matson, Kevin Matson, Doug Mattson and wife Patti, Rusty Mattson, Cheri Walker and husband Monte and Susan Brown all of Orofino. Mike Mattson of Weippe, Joleen Frederiksen, Houston, TX and Michele Rinehart of New Jersey; and three great grandchildren, Misty Walker and Daniele Brown of Orofino and Clinton Garrett of Houston, TX.
     
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a brother and a sister.
     
Services were held May 10, at Pine Hills Funeral Chapel. Interment was made at Hill Cemetery, with Pastor Paul Cross officiating.
